In spring 2021, the TRIPLE project initiated the TRIPLE Open Science Training Series. Work package 6 “Open Science and EOSC Integration” organises and delivers specific training events dedicated to Open Science related topics.
The events are primarily targeted at TRIPLE project team members, in order to ensure we all have competencies in Open Science practices and workflows. However, it has been decided to open the events to the whole SSH community. In order to strengthen TRIPLE’s connections and collaborations with other projects, initiatives and Research Infrastructures, some events are co-organised.

EOSC: State of the art and perspectives
This training event will be devoted specifically to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), and it will provide answers to the following questions, among others:
- What is the state of the art of the EOSC development?
- How the EOSC governance is changing?
- What are the next steps for the EOSC implementation?

A webinar about onboarding services onto the EOSC Portal, exploring the question “How does a provider service get onboarded and listed on the EOSC marketplace?”. The EOSC-Enhance project works to develop and improve the functionality of the EOSC Portal, further augmenting the catalogue of services assembled to date, and connecting independent, thematic data clouds for the benefit of users and service providers across Europe.
The webinar will provide assistance for service providers to share services via EOSC with the EOSC Portal as well as being introduced to some of the benefits of the EOSC Portal. The objectives of the training event are:
- Explain minimum criteria for becoming a provider and requirement to onboard services into the EOSC Portal
- Describe in detail the EOSC onboarding process
- Gather requirements from the TRIPLE project in order to take them into account for the next iteration of the Portal development

A webinar about the new Open Access Publishing Platform Open Research Europe (ORE) – what it is and how it works.
On the Horizon 2020 website of the EU the service is described as follows: “ORE is a new, free, open access, peer-review publishing platform for the publication of results stemming from EU-funded research. It publishes articles categorised in six subject areas: Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. For each of the six categories, there are different kind of types of publications, ranging from research articles, to brief reports, essays, data, method articles, etc.
The new platform will make it easy for Horizon 2020 beneficiaries to comply with the EU Open Access terms of funding at no cost to them. It offers to the researchers a free publishing venue to share their results and insights rapidly and facilitate open and constructive research discussions. Even if the EU-funded project has ended, publications stemming from the project can be submitted. Each publication must have at least one author who has been, or still is, a recipient of an EU grant.
The ORE website currently contains all necessary guidance (policies, publishing process, Scientific Advisory Board and FAQ) as well as information and instructions for the submission workflow. The platform is now open for submissions but the full range of functionalities (search, grouping per areas and thematic gateways) will become active only at the time of the formal launch, in March 2021.”
CLARIN Café on the Rights of Data Subjects in Language Resources

Various language resources often contain personal data, i.e. information that relate to living individuals. The processing of such information is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation, which entered into application on 25 May 2018. The rights of data subjects are one of the central elements of the GDPR; the Regulation provides for a number of such rights, ranging from information and access to the right of erasure (also known as ‘the right to be forgotten’). The underlying idea is to grant individuals control over the processing of their personal data.
The rights of the data subjects and related procedures to safeguard them should be implemented already at the conception phase of a project, and in any case before the data collection starts. This is particularly important if the data are to be shared according to the Open Science principles, e.g. within the European Open Science Cloud. Insufficient fulfillment of obligations related to data subject rights have already been sanctioned by over 50 fines across Europe (https://www.enforcementtracker.com).
The CLARIN Café will be devoted specifically to the rights of data subjects in the GDPR, and it will provide answers to the following questions, among others:
- What are the rights granted to data subjects by the GDPR?
- Are these rights limited when personal data are processed for the purposes of language research?
- How to handle data subjects’ requests related to the exercise of their rights?
- Who is responsible for handling such requests?
This CLARIN Café is supported by the TRIPLE project and will be introduced by Maria Eskevich, who is actively involved in TRIPLE and is CLARIN central office coordinator.
